Coinbase said on 28 October 2026 that a security incident at Amplitude, a third-party analytics vendor, affected a small subset of Coinbase customer contact data, along with data of other Amplitude customers. Coinbase said it found no evidence of unauthorized access to its own systems and that customer funds were not affected.
Coinbase is notifying affected customers and regulators. A Coinbase spokesperson told Cointelegraph the exposed data was contact and limited transaction data, and did not include home addresses or information that would allow direct access to an account or funds.
Coinbase has not said how many customers were affected or when the incident happened. A figure of more than 70,000 users circulating on social media has not been confirmed by Coinbase.
Coverage of the incident warned that leaked contact details are often used in impersonation scams. In May 2025 Coinbase disclosed a separate breach in which bribed support agents copied data on 69,461 customers.
“Amplitude, an analytics vendor, experienced a security incident which impacted a small subset of Coinbase customer contact data, among other Amplitude customers.”
