SOL delegated to the old validator (Stakewiz, via CoinDesk) About 1.56M SOL
Deadline to migrate for compensation 1 November 2026
Missed rewards covered from 26 October 2026

Solflare said on 27 October 2026 that the outside company running its Solana staking validator had reported a security incident affecting the keys it holds for that validator, and that the validator had stopped producing rewards. On 28 October Solflare launched a replacement validator, and it later said users who move their stake from Solflare (Legacy) to the new validator by 1 November will be compensated for rewards missed since 26 October.

Solflare has not named the provider, said when the incident occurred or explained how the keys were affected. It says delegated SOL stays in each user's own stake account, controlled by the user's keys, that the Solana protocol does not let a validator or anyone holding its keys move it, and that no user funds were touched. Stakewiz data cited by CoinDesk showed about 1.56 million SOL, roughly $160 million, still delegated to the old validator on 28 October, with the validator marked delinquent.

Stake on the old validator earns nothing until it is moved. Users can unstake from Solflare (Legacy) with a regular unstake and then stake on the new validator, or use the in-app migration. Because Solana stake changes take effect at the end of each epoch of about two days, the switch can take several days. Solflare says compensation will be paid to wallets automatically during November; it has not published how the amount is calculated.

Solflare says migration happens only inside its app and that it will never send direct messages or links about it. It describes the incident as being on the staking provider's side, not in the Solflare wallet.

“Move your stake from Solflare (Legacy) to the new Solflare validator by November 1 and you'll receive compensation for staking rewards missed since October 26. It will be paid to your wallet automatically during November.”
