Kraken said on 26 October 2026 that eligible clients in the European Economic Area can now trade BTC and ETH options on Kraken Pro. The options are European-style, cash-settled and linear in US dollars, with weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual expiries, and are available from an existing derivatives account in the EEA countries where Kraken offers derivatives.
Kraken says the options are offered by Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission under licence 342/17, with digital assets held by its MiCA-licensed custodian entity. Clients must complete an appropriateness assessment before they can trade. Orders are placed by request for quote with up to five legs per trade, portfolio margin is on by default, and options share collateral with futures, which can be posted in more than 30 currencies.
Kraken's announcement does not list individual countries. CryptoTicker reports that German clients can access the product under the same MiFID route and must pass the appropriateness check; Kraken's own text does not name Germany. Kraken's options page says taker fees are charged at settlement and capped at 12.5% of the option's reference price; the announcement gives no further fee table.
Kraken's options page says options trading is not available to users in the US, and that in the UK it is open only to clients formally classed as professional clients or eligible counterparties. The same page says daily expiries are planned, not live. Kraken launched the options for eligible clients outside Europe in July 2026, per The Crypto Times.
