Why can't I sell my token
A token usually cannot be sold for one of five reasons: it is a honeypot, your account is frozen, a Token-2022 rule blocks the transfer, the pool has no liquidity left, or your wallet lacks SOL for the network fee. The last two are common and harmless to fix. The first three are set by the token's creator.
Reasons set by the token
Honeypot: buys work but sells are blocked or taxed up to 100%. Dedaub says charts cannot reveal one. On Solana the closest equivalent is an active freeze authority, and Solana's docs say a frozen token account cannot transfer or burn tokens until thawed.
Token-2022 rules: Solana's token extensions include a transfer hook, which makes the mint call another program on each transfer, and a non-transferable setting, which means tokens from that mint cannot be transferred. Either can make a sell fail by design.
Reasons in the market or your wallet
No liquidity: if the creator removed the pool, Jupiter says the token becomes untradable, and a market below Jupiter's minimum liquidity is dropped from its routing. See rug pull.
Not enough SOL: every Solana transaction needs a fee in SOL, 5,000 lamports per signature as a base, plus an optional priority fee. Keep a small SOL balance beyond what you are selling.
Slippage too tight: a thin pool moves the price, and a sell fails if the price moves past your limit. See slippage.
What to do
Check the token on a scanner for freeze authority, sell tax and liquidity. Try a tiny sell first. If the token is a honeypot, Dedaub says recovery is almost never possible, and anyone offering paid recovery or asking you to send more funds is running a second scam. This is general information, not financial advice.
