Copy trading
Copy trading is automatically mirroring another wallet's trades from your own wallet: when the tracked wallet buys or sells a token, your bot places a similar order moments later. You trade at your own, later price and pay your own fees on every copied trade.
How it works in a trading bot
GMGN's docs describe a typical setup. You choose a wallet to copy and a buy method: a fixed amount every time, or matching the target's amount up to a maximum. For sells, you choose between proportional selling, where the bot sells the same share the target sells, manual selling, or your own take-profit and stop-loss rules. GMGN allows up to 10 copy tasks at once.
Filters narrow what gets copied: minimum and maximum market cap, pool liquidity, token age, minimum LP burnt ratio, and minimum or maximum target buy size. GMGN says the maximum copy amount helps avoid a target buying heavily to pull the price up and then rugging.
What each copied trade costs
GMGN states that one copy-trade transaction equals the buy or sell amount, plus the priority fee, plus its 1% fee. It warns that copying an active wallet can drain your SOL quickly. Some users lose money despite profitable copy trades because their priority fees are set too high.
Risks specific to copying
Jupiter's risk documentation lists them plainly. A wallet's past performance does not predict future results. You trade at your own price after market conditions have changed. Tracked wallets may have different risk tolerance or information. A wallet showing profits may be engaged in manipulative behaviour. GMGN's maximum copy amount exists for this reason: a target can buy heavily to pull the price up, then sell into the copiers who follow.
What it means before you start
Start with small fixed amounts, set conservative priority fees, and use liquidity and token-age filters. Check the copied wallet's history beyond its headline profit. Remember that a copied round trip pays the platform fee on both the buy and the sell.
