Lighter drops first-week fee rebate for referred users, pays referral rewards in LIT

Referred traders keep a 10% fee discount, but no longer get their first week of Premium/Advanced fees back. Referrer rates of 10% and 20% are unchanged.

Announced Oct 27, 2026: Lighter drops first-week fee rebate for referred users, pays referral rewards in LIT. Affects: Traders who sign up through a Lighter referral link and use a Premium/Advanced account. Source: docs.lighter.xyz, verified Nov 2, 2026. Lighter code DEXSHEET (10% fee rebate).

Referred user's first week of Premium/Advanced fees Rebated→10% discount only
Referred user's ongoing fee discount 10%→10% (unchanged)
Payout asset Not stated→LIT tokens
On a $100,000 trade (net fee on $100,000 of Premium/Advanced taker volume (0.028%) in a referred user's first week, before LIT staking discounts) $0.00→$25.20

Lighter updated its referral program page on 27 October 2026. The page no longer says referred users get their first week of Premium/Advanced fees rebated, and it now states that weekly payouts to both referrers and referred users are made in LIT tokens.

Until the update, Lighter's referral page said referred users would get their first week of Premium/Advanced fees rebated, on top of a 10% discount on the fees they pay. The current page keeps only the 10% discount, rebated every Monday, and describes it as starting at sign-up when the referral code is used.

Payouts are still weekly L2 transfers from the same address with a $1 minimum. The earlier page did not name the payout asset; the current page says they are paid in LIT tokens, so the value received moves with the LIT price rather than being fixed in dollars.

Referrers still earn 10% of their referred users' gross fees at the Bronze tier and 20% at Silver (15 or more unique referrals, each active on 5 or more days). Standard accounts, Lighter's default, still pay no maker or taker fees on regular orders, so the change matters mainly to referred traders who opt into Premium/Advanced accounts. Lighter says all rebates and kickbacks are discretionary.

“Kickbacks & rebates for both referrers and referees are paid out weekly as L2 Transfers, in LIT tokens, from this address: 0x817645592D5f7BB7F4F1b027B7f5277f28d12805”
