Coinbase Wallet is a real, operating wallet. It is non-custodial, KYC: none. We found no reported hacks or fund losses in our sources. Legit is not the same as low-risk: the coins traded on it can still go to zero.

Custody: who holds your money
Self-custody wallet: private keys are stored on your device, and no Coinbase account is needed. Wallet types are a passkey smart wallet (EVM only), an email/social-login (CDP) wallet, and a recovery-phrase (mnemonic) wallet.

- Swap fee of up to 1% per side, with no published default rate
- Two renames in about 14 months (Base App in July 2025, back to Coinbase Wallet in September 2026), and the classic wallet closed on 2026-08-15, dropping networks such as XRP, Litecoin, zkSync Era and Sei
- Passkey smart wallets support EVM networks only, not Bitcoin or Solana

How to use Coinbase Wallet without getting scammed
- Only open www.coinbase.com/wallet — fake lookalike sites and "support" DMs are the most common way people lose funds on any trading venue.
- Never share a seed phrase or private key. No real support agent will ask for one.
- A referral code only changes your fee and who gets a share of it. It never needs your keys.
- Treat every new memecoin as able to go to zero. A legit venue does not make the coins on it safe.

Coinbase Wallet is the self-custodial wallet of Coinbase, the US-listed exchange. It was renamed the Base App in July 2025 and renamed back to Coinbase Wallet on September 10, 2026. Keys stay on your device and no Coinbase account is required. No wallet-specific security incident is recorded here.
Is the Base App the same as Coinbase Wallet?
Yes. Coinbase renamed Coinbase Wallet the Base App in July 2025 as a social 'everything app'. On September 10, 2026 it reverted the name to Coinbase Wallet and refocused the product on multichain trading.
What is the Coinbase Wallet swap fee?
Coinbase's help center says it charges a fee of up to 1% on swaps. DEX aggregators may charge their own fee, reflected in the amount you receive, and network fees are extra.
Which chains does Coinbase Wallet support?
Preconfigured networks are Arbitrum, Avalanche C-Chain, Base, Bitcoin, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Monad, Optimism, Polygon, Robinhood Chain, Solana and Zora. Solana and Bitcoin need an email/social-login or recovery-phrase wallet, not a passkey smart wallet.
Does Coinbase Wallet offer perps?
Yes. When it reverted the name in September 2026, Coinbase said the wallet offers perpetual futures powered by Hyperliquid, alongside prediction markets and tokenized stocks. Coinbase has not published the perps fee schedule.
